Enzo Maresca revealed that Manchester City are no closer to completing further transfer window signings, despite holding daily discussions with club executives.
Sporting director Hugo Viana and CEO Ferran Soriano have both traveled to Asia representing the club's leadership, yet the Blues continue to struggle to secure another deal.
Elliot Anderson was acquired from Nottingham Forest during the FIFA World Cup for a club-record £116 million ($155.18 million), with expectations that transfer activity would accelerate once the summer tournament concluded.
As City departed on their preseason tour to Asia, there were indications of progress on several fronts, including negotiations for Ayyoub Bouaddi and a search for a winger, while Tottenham Hotspur grew increasingly confident in their pursuit of Savinho, as per the Manchester Evening News.
Despite hopes of bolstering the squad before the conclusion of the Asian tour following City's arrival in Korea, those aspirations appear to be diminishing.
Maresca acknowledged that transfer possibilities are being discussed daily, but stopped short of suggesting any deals were imminent.
"No, not at the moment," he said when asked if there were any transfer updates. "The transfer window is open and when it's open anything can happen. It's just August and then from September when it closes it will be different.

"Hugo is here, also Ferran is here and we just try to speak day by day to see if we need to do something. For sure, there are things that we need to do. We are in communication every day.
"Fortunately, this is a squad that doesn't need to do many things. At the same time, as we already know, the club lost important players in terms of experience like Bernardo [Silva], John [Stones] and Nathan [Ake]. For sure, there are things that we need to do."
